Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis 9 Apr 2008
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]

Editorial Recommendation author citation to be checked [resolved]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 [for Morella californica] 21 Aug 2002 e-mail from Jeff Greenhouse see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Myrica californica was published in Linnaea 6: 535 (1831) in a section written by Chamisso of a larger report co-authored by Chamisso and Schlechtendal, as "MYRICA californica N.", the "N." an abbreviation for nobis, the Latin term which here means "of us". Thus, the correct author citation is Cham. & Schltdl., as in The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1].
Correspondence 2 Treatment and author notes submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] by Allan J. Bornstein see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Correspondence 2 indicates that for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] Myrica californica Cham. & Schltdl. is to be treated as Morella californica (Cham. & Schltdl.) Wilbur.
