| Editorial Comments 2 | Correspondence 2 indicates: that Monochoria vaginalis was published by Karl Sigismund Kunth (Kunth in Authors of Plant Names) in Enumeratio Plantarum Omnium Hucusque Cognitarum 4:134 (1834), wherein Kunth ascribed the name to "Presl in Reliq. Haenk. 2. 128" (C. Presl in Authors of Plant Names); that in Presl's publication (Reliquiae Haenkeanae 1:128. 1827), Presl indicated that Pontederia vaginalis should be transferred to the genus Monochoria but he failed to actually make the combination and so thereby failed to validly publish Monochoria vaginalis; and that the basionym, Pontederia vaginalis Burm. f., was published in Flora Indica 80 (1768). [Therefore, author citation expanded to Monochoria vaginalis (Burm. f.) C. Presl ex Kunth , from Monochoria vaginalis (Burm. f.) Kunth previously in this Index, 16 May 2006.] | |||||
