Cotoneaster pannosus Franch.
ROSACEAE
·

Information from the Index of California Plant Names (ICPN)
Initial Editorial Analysis Nov 1 2001
Notes on Authorship of Name = Authors of Plant Names
Source of Report for California The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1]
Initial Editorial Comments spelling of epithet uncertain, "pannosus" in Kartesz & Meacham, International Plant Names Index-APNI, as cited in IPNI-Index Kewensis; survey of names in IPNI indicates most but not all adjectival epithets given feminine form, so there appears not to have been consensus on how to treat Cotoneaster
Variant Spelling Cotoneaster pannosa
Editorial Recommendation spelling of epithet to be checked [resolved, probably]
Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 30 Oct 2007 e-mail from Richard Moe see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that Moe didn't see any epithets of feminine gender in Cotoneaster when he [recently] looked in Tropicos and International Plant Names Index, suggesting that perhaps a consensus on the matter has been reached, and that in his recently submitted treatment [for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2]], Zika treats the generic name as masculine. [Therefore, spelling of epithet changed to Cotoneaster pannosus Franch., from Cotoneaster pannosa Franch. previously in this Index, 31 Oct 2007.]
