Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that John Strother (pers. comm. to Greenhouse, 19 Jan 2005) reports that the taxon that has been called Balsamita major Desf. or Chrysanthemum balsamita L. will be treated as Tanacetum balsamita L. in Flora North America, wherein California will be included in its distribution, and that there are three California records of this taxon in SMASCH, all currently under the Folder Name Balsamita major [but to be changed to Tanacetum balsamita], and all derived from the same persistent population at an abandoned garden site at Iaqua, Humboldt Co. . [Because of the apparent lack of evidence that this taxon has persisted beyond the date of the most recent collection at Iaqua (1939), and in view of the fact that, evidently, the only other collection made since that time was from an urban (street side) volunteer in 1976, it seems a Current Status of tentative 4 is most appropriate for this taxon at this time. For previous comments and discussion, see Balsamita major Desf. or Chrysanthemum balsamita L.]
