Correspondence and Comments Subsequent to Initial Analysis
Correspondence 1 $ 8 Feb 2002, from Margriet Wetherwax see Comment 1
Editorial Comments 1 Correspondence 1 indicates that, according to two cited works by Duane Isely, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 1] author of several genera of Fabaceae, the seeds of this taxon are common contaminants of legume seed produced in Europe, and in this way are continuously reintroduced in CA. [The species is included in Isely's 1998 book, "Native and Naturalized Leguminosae (Fabaceae) of the United States...", but the name (p. 146) is preceded by an asterisk, which means (p. 3) "that the species is rarely known outside cultivation and is doubtfully established".
Correspondence 2 26 Mar 2010, from Thomas J. Rosatti, Scientific Editor, The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2] see Comment 2
Editorial Comments 2 Regarding Anthyllis vulneraria L., there are no records in CCH, no photos in CalPhotos, and it is not included among treatments submitted for The Jepson Manual [Ed. 2], so retention of a Current Status of Jepson Flora Project-3 seems most appropriate at this time. Because as a waif in California it should have been but was not included in the key to genera, a note about it under the family description was added in editing.
