MYOPORUM FAMILY

Shrub, tree
Leaves simple, generally alternate, evergreen, often gland-dotted, petioled; stipules 0
Inflorescence: axillary clusters; flowers 1–few
Flower bisexual, radial to bilateral; calyx 5-lobed, persistent; corolla 5-lobed, sometimes 2-lipped; stamens generally 4, epipetalous, (sometimes a fifth reduced and sterile); ovary superior, chambers generally 2 (sometimes falsely 3–10), ovules generally 1–2 per chamber, style 1, stigmas 1–2
Fruit: drupe
Genera in family: 3–5 genera, ± 100 species: especially Australia (also Pacific islands, e Asia, s Africa, West Indies).
