Perennial.
Inflorescence: pedicels slender, jointed near middle.
Flower: stamens ± >= perianth, exserted; style 1, short, slender, stigmas 3.
± 300 species: especially n temperate. (Greek: ancient name) Asparagus densiflorus (Kunth) Jessop misappl. to A. aethiopicus L., a waif.
