Perennial herb, generally robust, leafy; hairs fine, incurved-ascending or curly, or ± 0. Stem: prostrate to erect, often in dense tangles, 2–10 dm. Leaf: 2.5–17 cm, generally spreading, arched; stipules fused around stem into sheath, sometimes early ruptured, seemingly free; leaflets 21–43, generally ± crowded, 3–25 mm, ± obovate or oblong, tips notched. Inflorescence: flowers 20–125, dense, early reflexed. Flower: petals ± cream, lavender-tinged or not, banner 10–15 mm, recurved ± 40°, wings 1 mm < to 1.5 mm > banner, keel 9.7–14 mm. Fruit: 20–60 mm, 15–27 mm wide, bladdery, glabrous to sparsely hairy, papery; chamber 1; ovules 14–38. [Online Interchange]
