Mitthyridium iwatsukianum - Specimen 284
Description

Collection locality: Philippines
Elevation:
Substrate:

Collection information:
B. Tan 1982

NOTES: This is an ODD specimen and may be positioned erroneously in the phylogeny. However, the specimen from which total genomic DNA was extracted was not mixed and the extraction procedure was conducted twice to eliminate the possibility of methodological error. Still, all genes (rps4, trnL and gpd) provide the same answer. Based on this evidence, the "constrictum" morphology is convergent and the taxon previously named iwatsukianum is the sister lineage to all members of the undulatum clade. Still, I report this result tentatively as it is derived from the only known specimen of iwatsukianum.

Genes sequenced:
rps4
trnL
gpd - AF400913
