General Interests:
My general interests span plant ecology & evolution, systematics and biogeography. I am currently working on California bryophytes, an understudied group with very interesting ecological and biogeographical patterns. I hope to develop an understanding of not only these organisms themselves, but also their roles in the ecosystems within which they exist.
Current projects that I am working on and/or planning include a collaborative modelling effort to asses effects of climate change on distribution patterns of the entire endemic vascular flora of the California Floristic Province, an inventory of the bryophytes of San Luis Obispo County (CA), California Moss systematics, and parallel evolution of desiccation tolerance in mosses and the microscopic invertebrates that live in moss cushions.
